First of all… wow what a title, huh?
As a kid one of my all-time favorite comics was Nemo in Slumberland. For those of you not in the know… FOR SHAME! Off to Google with you. Go on! We’ll wait…

… Okay. You liked what you found, huh? Now since then, characters going on adventures in their dreams has been a reoccurring theme. Some have been excellent stories, some have not. Recently my wife told me about
a webcomic that I might be interested in so I checked it out. I’m glad I did. This falls into the excellent category.
As the title says, it tells the adventure of a young boy named Xander who “wakes” up in a dream with his pet dog. Without spoiling too much, it soon becomes apparent that all is not right, for Xander isn’t
transparent as the other “dreamers” of this dreamland and he has to find out how to get back. The story, written by Taylor Machink, is only at 30 pages so far, but it kept me captivated the whole time. I instantly liked the characters and the world that Taylor is building. The art, by Ian Sean Gibson, is very pleasing on the eyes and actually reminds me of storybook art from my childhood. I found the whole package very heartwarming, which is saying a lot in this day and age.
I know there are a few other comics out there that have similar themes, but they always end up nosediving to the same mold as every other webcomic. Adding ingredients that just scream kissing up to what fans want. I hope Xander can avoid this, because as of now it’s truly one of my favorites!
Go check it out at Xander – The Adventures of a Boy and his Dog in the World of Dreams.
